Shawn Lamb
LinkedIn Profile
Shawn Lamb brings over 23 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, with a career dedicated to advancing clean energy technologies and developing the workforce that supports them. His journey began in 2001 at Gwinnett Technical College, where, while working as a math instructor, he started studying Photovoltaic Technology. Motivated by Atlanta's poor air quality, Shawn sought ways to make a meaningful impact through renewable energy.
In 2004, Shawn took his passion further by enrolling in a Professional Master’s program in Engineering Physics (Applied Physics) at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. There, he specialized in Automation and Robotics, completing a thesis on a robotic vision-based tracking system for High Concentration Photovoltaic systems. His time in graduate school also broadened his expertise in small wind turbines and solar thermal systems.
By 2008, Shawn was recruited by General Electric as a Lead Wind Instructor at GE’s Renewable Energy Learning Center in Niskayuna, NY. He led courses on wind turbine commissioning, maintenance, and converter technology, training a new generation of technicians.
A year later, he stepped into the role of Training Manager at Nordex, a leading German wind turbine manufacturer. Shawn collaborated closely with senior leadership to design and implement a comprehensive Competency Matrix for wind technicians, while also developing and delivering technical training across multiple teams. His work positioned him as a regular representative for Nordex at industry conferences and advisory boards.
In 2011, Shawn became Program Director for the Wind Energy Technology program at Ecotech Institute in Colorado, where he helped hundreds of students launch careers as wind technicians.
In 2014, Shawn was tapped to launch and lead the U.S. division of the Danish Wind Power Academy as CEO. He played a key role in the division’s rapid growth, overseeing business development, B2B sales, and directly delivering client training.
Today, Shawn channels his deep experience and passion for adult learning through Lamb Consulting Services. His firm partners with renewable energy companies to strengthen their workforce strategies—enhancing talent retention, improving workplace culture, and promoting safety across the industry.
