Shawn has over 23 years of experience with renewable energy work. In 2001 Shawn started studying Photovoltaic Technology while working as a math instructor at Gwinnett Technical College. This interest in renewable energy stemmed from the poor air quality in metro-Atlanta and the need to make a difference.
In 2004 Shawn took his passion for technology and renewable energy to Boone, NC where he attended a Professional Masters program in Engineering Physics (Applied Physics), where he focused on Automation and Robotics. His thesis was an innovative tracking system for High Concentration Photovoltaic systems using robotic vision (adaptive optics) and microcontrollers. While in grad school, Shawn focused on other forms of renewable energy such as small wind turbines and solar thermal systems.
Fast forward to 2008, and Shawn was recruited by General Electric as a Lead Wind Instructor at GE's Energy Learning Center in Niskayuna, NY. At the RELC, Shawn taught classes in Commissioning, Maintenance, and Converter Technology for wind turbines.
After only 1 year at GE, Shawn took on the role of Training Manager for Nordex, a German wind turbine manufacturer. Shawn worked closely with Senior HR and Operations management to design and implement a Competency Matrix for wind technicians. Shawn also directly developed and trained many wind commissioners, service techs, and factory employees in turbine technology. This was a great opportunity for Shawn to grow in his understanding of the wind industry as he would regularly represent Nordex at conferences and advisory boards.
In 2011, Shawn moved to Colorado to join Ecotech Institute as their Program Director for the Wind Energy Technology program. This program graduated hundreds of new wind techs into the industry under Shawn’s tenure from 2011 to 2014.
In 2014, after many months of conversation, Shawn was asked to start-up the U.S. division of the Danish Wind Power Academy as CEO. Shawn directly contributed to the fast growth of this start-up division. Responsible for Business Development, B2B sales, as well as developing & directly training clients.
Shawn has a bright and interesting career focused on helping adult learners understand technology. This has culminated in the creation of Lamb Consulting Services, which specializes in working with Renewable Energy Companies in order to optimize their workforce and enable them to retain talent, improve work culture, and keep them safe (Retention, Culture, Safety).
